Whoa...

That image makes me want to go and find a zero-g environment and take a certain Buni with me when I do.

I can almost hear the conversation as well...

"No.  I do not want to go into that with you..."  LOL!!!

But yes I did like the sketch very nice.  But then again Snowi has always been a cool character.

I think you need to make her feminine curves a little curvier to make them look softer and more natural. I've got some sketches somewhere by Disney artists showing how the use of curves can bring out the cuddliness in a subject.

Hmmm.  Well. I've always liked the "modular" look that was developed in Japanese anime.  It does tend to look a bit "cubistic" when taken to extremes, though.  What do you suggest?

Nothing wrong with that when you are trying to portray "hard" objects. But soft things need curves to portray the softness. Think of a kid that's in his (or her) flannel pajamas. The curves eliminate details and make things look softer. Also take a look at Lilo and Stitch. There aren't any straight lines in the entire film.

I tried to go over some of the lines to show you what I mean. Take a look at Chuck's sketch - I think his interpretation is pretty good.

...hmmm.  Well, I think traditional inking would eliminate most of the sharp edges in these block layouts.  I don't do much inking with a brush these days, though... usually I make a clean pencil sketch with my light table, scan, and add PhotoShop color. Probably the completed piece will not be as blocky as these layout sketches.

I can see a lot of work and effort has gone into this one piece of art work.

This must take hours to do as well.

I did it with my tablet in Illustrator. I can give you some pointers if you'd like. But the point I was trying to get across is that for soft features, don't use a lot of lines (or bends) when a simple, graceful curve will do. Whenever I'm unhappy with a sketch, the first thing I ask myself is "how can I simplify this?"

...believe it or not, these small character poses take me about 2 hours each.  But I suspect that I'll get faster if I spend more time practicing... trying to make it a part of my daily schedule again.

Actually, to me, angular suggests muscle...  There are certain areas on a girl that *aren't* primarily muscle, though...  Breasts and Buttocks...  Note that Snowi's boobs are already rounded...  Me, I would prefer a rounder butt, but that's just my pervo biases speaking...  I liked it back when Snowi had the round behind...

Hmmmm.... sorta depends on what you're trying to get across.... Jeff has a really weird art style, very mechanical and extremely stylized; so he can get away with doing things differently from most. His basic figure construction is very angular, so the angular features doesn't seem out of place in the sketch. For me (because of this) the rounded physique doesn't seem all that different. The underlying forms seem to negate that.

Now, I'd think the question is: how "solid" should this particular character be in relation to the rest of the cast? She sorta comes across as having some muscle most of the time. Is this how the character should look? For softer characters, I'd think you'd need to adjust the proportions on the figure more than the rendering. (Given the .... can't think of a better word, but I'll go with MECHANICAL.... construction of the comic's basic anatomy.)
