Portland Comic Con March 2006
Mar 7th, 2006 at 10:07pm

...I hadn't really planned to attend the one-day Portland Comic Con in March 2006; in fact, I hadn't even heard of it until the week before the event.  But, one of my regular Pseudo Comments contributors recommended it, and then I discovered that one of my church-buddies in Vancouver was planning to go too. So we hit the road together.

We discovered that a local semi-professional Star Wars costuming club was also attending, which made for some great photo ops.  Here's my wingman Jake Rose (front row right) and myself (front row left) with a variety of classic and prequel Star Wars cosplayers.

Y'know, if I had known 29 years ago that the Star Wars franchise would still be going strong in 2006, I would have kept my big box of original movie toys, cards, posters, and other goodies.  At one time I had a huge collection of items, including every newspaper and magazine article that mentioned the film... that stuff would be worth a fortune on eBay nowadays.

I've never been a big fan of Gen 13, but perhaps I should have purchased this action figure of buxom superhuman Fairchild... I'm thinking that one of my buddies in the custom figure scene could easily have modified her to make a stacked SnowBuni figurine.

Well, dolfie artist Doug Gracey has already made a pair of Buni dolfies (Snow and Honi), and Canadian sculptor Don Chisholm built a SnowBuni Action Figure based on a MegaMan chassis.

...but I don't have any volunteers to begin work on a new project right now, so I would advise against procuring any component parts just yet.  I know that I don't have any sculpting skills.

I should mention that my partner, Jake Rose, is a serious comic book collector.  He knew most of the dealers in attendance, and therefore he was able to find copies of JSA Classified (featuring PowerGirl) and SuperGirl (guest starring PowerGirl) at cover price for me.  My collection (such as it is) is now complete.
Roll Eyes

I don't really collect any mainstream books (Marvel or DC), but I make an exception for PowerGirl.
