...those of you who are paying attention will notice that I've been rebuilding the web site with a slightly more sophisticated structure, including XML, PHP, and javascript.

One of the upgrades that I'd like to include during this remodel is a MISSION STATEMENT, detailing what I'd like to accomplish with this site.

So far, it's kind of blah... thought I'd ask for some feedback and critique.

Here's what I got so far:

The purpose of this website is to provide a place for cartoonist Jeffrey H Wood (the Artist Formerly Known as Buniman) to share cartoons and other art projects with friends, fans, and family worldwide.

In addition, this website will promote the creative community by offering a place for artists, cartoonists, illustrators, and fans to contribute art to online galleries, and to particpate in an interactive forum.

...maybe I should a Mission Statement contest.

...a "Mission Statement" is a short description of your policy, purpose, or philosophy.  Most companies have a Mission Statement which is posted in their lobby, break areas, etc.

Basically, it provides the direction for all company associated activities.  Proposals must meet the guidelines detailed by the mission statement; if not, they must be amended or discarded.

Usually, company mission statements say something about maintaining product excellence to promote customer satsifaction and improve company standing in the industry.

I would like for my mission statement to say something about promoting the artistic community, honoring and showcasing cartoon art, creating a meeting place for artists and fans to meet in a non-threatening environment, etc.

Say, that's not too bad... I need to rewrite these into the mission statement proposal.

A project proposal is specific; a mission statement is general.
