I didn't know illustrator Paul Whitehead before we met at the convention, but we had a pleasant conversation.  His artwork is excellent.

More of his work can be found at:

MetalPig

EDIT:  Cartoonist Whitehead identifies his partner on the same table, Edward Pun, and notes that more of cartoonist Pun's work can be found at:

PVcomics dudes Matt Johnson (Dewclaw) and Jay McLeod (Migrayn).  Both of these guys are active in the PVcomics and BlamBot communities, so we were familiar with each other... but this is the first time we had met.

Professional cartoonist James Dean Smith, of "Boris the Bear" fame.  Apparently he's making a comeback in the comics industry.

In his first series (published during the mid-80's), Boris wiped out a number of comic book characters with lethal force.  I suggested that perhaps cartoonist Smith could do the same with some of the gaming and anime characters of today.

At the Pseudo Comics table, MU Press publisher Edd Vick, Slam Bang publisher Allen Freeman, and his wife.  Kelly is seated with her back to the camera.

I've known these guys since about 1985, so we've been together 20 years in comics.

The Cartoonists Northwest table.  I've been a member of this group since my freshman year at the University of Washington, in 1984.

Greeting card illustrator Elizabeth Pankey is on the left, and underground/alternative cartoonist Roberta Gregory (of Bitchy Bitch fame) is on the right.

I didn't know this young lady, but every time I walked by her table she blinded me with this 50,000 megawatt smile.  She probably doubled sales at this dealer's table, all by herself.

This young lady (Fluff3r on the web) was wearing a sexy variant of the Marine Corp fatigues worn by the Alien Snack Munchies troopers in the 1986 science fiction horror film, ALIENS, by 20th Century Fox.

Her costume is complete with pet face-hugger parasite.

The Dark Horse guys from Portland, Oregon.

Dark Horse Comics

I aksed them when we would see another series featuring the anime girls, the Dirty Pair.  Apparently professional cartoonist Adam Warren owns the rights to produce more comics featuring our favorite Lovely Angels, so we should send our petitions to him.

I liked the "Beatlejuice" inspired outfits worn at the Catalyst Studios tables, and asked if I could snap their picture.

Thanks for sharing with us those convention photos.   I think it's terrific it was held in the vicinity of Qwest Field, home of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks (too bad they got euchred by the St. Louis Rams in that NFC Wild Card game).
Cool

Didn't even Matt Hasselbeck (Seahawks' quarterback) drop by?
Wink

Now I await going to another convention show of hobbies and collectibles.

Well, it was Super Bowl Sunday during the Emerald City Comic Con weekend, but that shouldn't have kept Matt Hasselbeck from visiting us in the Qwest Events Center.  The SeaHawks haven't won a playoff game in 10 years, now.
Undecided

Most of the people that I talked to at the convention said something like, "Philadelphia?  New England?  Who cares?"
