Another loyal SnowBuni fan artist who deserves recognition, Kyle Miller.  He's done terrific jobs, not just worth of art, but also with those games.  Nevertheless, he does drawing SnowBuni with oomph. Cheesy

Maybe I can suggest another SnowBuni game or two Kyle can try cooking up. Smiley

Kyle Miller has been a part of Team SnowBuni for so long that I don't even remember when he first joined.  He's produced dozens of SnowBuni stories, hundreds of pinups, thousands of sketches, several animated banners, and a dressup game which is the most popular destination on the SnowBuni site (averaging about 2,000 hits/week).   Kyle is the unofficial "older brother" of the SnowBuni-Sylvalagi continuity, in recognition for all of his hard work, professional advice, and enthusiasm.

Kyle is busy working for a new employer in Chicago these days, and hasn't had quite as much time recently to contribute to the SnowBuni project.  But, he does have another SnowBuni game which he has scripted, called "Quick Change!"  Perhaps if we all bug him (very nicely!) then he will finish it for us.

...here's a sample page from an unpublished 4-issue miniseries (circa 1991), featuring SnowBuni and her sister HoniBuni in MainBase Antarctica.

The earthbound Sylvalagi are having a crisis of leadership, at this point... their government leaders have just been recovered (having been abducted by aliens in an earlier episode), but the Sylvalagi science is unable to safely revive them from their storage hibernation.

The name of the story is "Polarity," written by Kelly and I, pencils by our own Kyle Miller, inks & letters by Ted Delorme, and edited by MU Press publisher Edd Vick.

Oddly enough, the entire history of SnowBuni comic books is most often defined by what has not been published.

...

...another sample page (from the epic confrontation at the end of the story) in which HoniBuni ensures SnowBuni's doom in a clever and diabolical machination (similar to those scenes in which Agent 007 or Batman are caught by the villain).

Quite the *Polarity* story Kyle chipped in to do. Smiley

Too bad for SnowBuni, she lives with a dysfunctional family, seeing her sour sis HoniBuni is quite a black widow, so to speak. Shocked

Nevertheless, I have to mull over any ideas that Kyle can do... Roll Eyes

Actually, SnowBuni and HoniBuni have a complex relationship, which is not really evident in the samples above.  Mostly HoniBuni avoids Snowi, since she abhors Snowi's playful good humor.  ...but there does seem to be some current of affection between them, because in spite of their posturing and threats, they never kill each other.

...or, at least that's the way I've been trying to develop the story.

Thanks for the kudos, gang. My schedule's been pretty busy since I've found gainful employment. So much so that I haven't even been able to update my own website (Actually, that's not quite correct - I was finally able to fix a broken link for the burger builder game.) So as fun as the games were to do, I don't see myself having much time to open up Flash to make any new ones in the near future.

But I love hearing your ideas.

Here's a the basic figure image for the "QuickChange" SWF game, which has been shelved until Kyle can find time for it.

Here's Kyle's description of the "QuickChange" game play:

    Here's how Quick Change works.

SnowBuni needs to wear a coordinated outfit  (1 of 4 styles) in which everything matches (1 of 6 colors). The clothes come down a little chute in random order, so you never really know what's going to come next, beyond the next two or three.

Users have to decide whether to let SnowBuni wear the piece at the bottom of the chute or "toss it on the bed" in hopes that something better will come along.  Occasionally, the user will find that they have most of the pieces for an outfit, but will have thrown the last piece on the bed and will have to dig for it.

All the while, a timer is running, thus the Quick Change.

Best score is kept for the current player.

    What do you think?

I've done sexy (hey, anyone can do sexy - just draw a picture of a girl falling out of her shirt and you've got that covered). I'm shooting for classy these days. Must mean I'm getting more mature. (Yeah, you can interpret that as "old.")

I'm sure many of us have drawn characters fairly sexy.  In my taste, it's a good thing I've kept my heart in a lot of check, thinking ways how even a sexy-looking gal can still be a positive role model, like a mother-figure or big sister. Kiss  Thus don't take for granted people's feelings. Wink  It's any wonder it takes lots of self-discipline to think with the heart rather. Embarrassed Roll Eyes Smiley

Nevertheless, Kyle, none of us are getting any younger, that be for sure. Wink  Just try not to feel THAT old. Grin  At least we should be lucky to know there are clean ways of drawing sexy characters. Smiley

I wonder if SnowBuni ever wanted autographs from David Hasselhoff, Tom Selleck, Brad Pitt, Charlie Sheen,...Eric Braeden, any of those famous sexy romantic dudes!  Kiss Grin

Hmmm....

The question of "too sexy" is a good one. Why is it people only complain about nekkid females? Conan has been running around in nothing but furry underwear, boots and biceps for almost 70 years, and nobody argues that HE'S providing a negative body stereotype....

I sorta came up with an explanation to this.... abck when I was in University. If you've seen the movie "PCU," you've seen the University of Windsor. *sigh* Anyhoo; a friend of mine was going through one of my sketchbooks, with a couple of friends of hers. They were all of the "men are bad; ban the thingy" variety. So when they came across my character Trista they were all suitably offended. She's big, she's buff, she's pretty much nekkid. So after the lecture I had them go on. This book had designs for almost a hundred characters in it, and once they reached the end I asked who their favourite was. They all said it was Trista. THEN I reminded them of the lecture....

But the thing is; females in our culture have a LOT of emphasis placed on appearance. It's programmed in from an early age. (Men get it too, but not as much. A male who's TOO pretty is typically scorned.) So females tend to use appearance to appraise other females. (Women check each other out all the time; men seldom do.) A character like Trista conforms to the extreme subconscious ideal of attractive, BUT it's also clear that SHE'S the prime mover in her story. She calls the shots, she makes the decisions, she's the boss. Hence the appeal. She fulfils both criteria.

For the most part, men in our society are taught that OTHER traits are more important than appearance. So Conan has strength, aggression, toughness... typical "male" traits. He's cool; not competition. (Men typically cowtow to the Alpha; but that's another discussion...)

So when it comes to female characters, I always figgered the amunt of "sexy" (and the TYPE) should be tempered to fit the character, and elicit a certain reaction from the audience. (Something I wish the REST of the comics industry would consider.)

...I've started a new topic to examine this issue.

What do women want?  Sex differences analyzed...

Let's take gender-oriented discussion to the new topic, and maintain this one for discussion of cartoonist Kyle Miller's artwork and other projects.
