Contest Time! Independence Day SnowBuni pinup
May 27th, 2004 at 8:45pm

In the past, I've run several contests for pinups featuring SnowBuni, usually with a topical Holiday theme.  I've never done a summer contest, though, so now is a good time to start a new tradition.

Here's the idea:

1)  Goodgirl pinup featuring SnowBuni, and/or any of the other characters in the Sylvalagi family (HoniBuni, SnuggleBuni, KrystalPoni, Geralderson, Random, etc).

2) Independence day theme!  Also known as the "Fourth of July" celebration, it features fireworks, picnics, barbecues, and other family activities.  Although SnowBuni is not an American (she's not even human, technically speaking), she doesn't mind helping her American friends to celebrate with style.

3)  Alternatives... any other holiday featuring fireworks!  Options might include the Chinese New Year, Guy Fawke's day, you get the idea.

4)  Ideally, artwork should be proportional to 450 by 600, although I prefer to recieve a *.jpg or *.gif which is a bit larger, say, 675 by 900.  This allows for a bit of shrink reduction and clarification, before posting.

5) PG or thereabouts, please.

6)  Deadline... July 1st (Thursday), so we can post by July 4th.

Voting is done by contributors and visitors to the site ( I abstain).  Each voter gets a first, second, and third choice; a first place vote is worth 3 points, a second place vote is worth 2 points, and third place is 1 point.  The pinup with the most points wins a $5 gift certificate to the shop of their choice (such as Barnes & Noble, Home Depot, REI, StarBucks, etc.).

Did I miss anything?  Post questions for more information here.

Hey Everyone,

That sounds like a good idea...  Did you want us to help and pitch in for the prize.  I am asking because I feel that we are part of Team SnowBuni now, well at least all the members on your list or on this site. Grin

I have a question what if someone sends you naughty art work, what happens to them?

Well, I'm only offering a single $5 prize, so there's not a whole lot to contribute.  Unless we wanted to increase the value of the prize... I suppose.  But typically, prizes that I offer are simply a small gratuity, a just-for-fun kind of thing.

They get a visit from a Sylvalagi wetworks team.  The results are usually excused as "industrial accidents."

Actually, I have quite a collection of nude SnowBuni pinups that I've received from contributors, mostly of Bunnykins in the shower, for some reason.  I guess Freud would say something about cleanliness and vulnerability.

I won't post these on my site, though; judging from the email I receive, most of my site visitors are adolescents.  So, my target demographic is the under-18 crowd.

So... SnowBuni can be sexy and slinky... she just can't be sexy and slinky and naked.

Hello All,

To the comment up above, all I can say is "Ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

Gee I thought we would string them up or something, you know form a lynch mob or something but then I do not wanna clean up the mess.  I do love sick dark humor.  Also a big fan of slap stick comedym you know a pie in the face.  i will laugh even more if I can dodge the pie.

"Sylvalagi wetworks team"

Is this us or is it your own personalized assault team.

Or is it "Team SnowBuni."

"Wetworks" is a Soviet term for a class of operatives who do international dirty work... the get their hands "wet" with the blood of their targets.

I'm imagining that the Sylvalagi (SnowBuni's people) have a similar class of agents, and Snowbuni is trained in their methodology.

"Team SnowBuni" is the name of the group of people who purchased SnowBuni T-shirts, back when they were available.

Y'know, I could pony up for a better prize, if my contestants can agree on a suitable reward.  Not anything too expensive; a new X-box would be prohibitive, but a GameBoy or game cartridge might be worthwhile.

So, what makes a good prize?

I have an old Atari console from the '70's, but that would not make much of a prize... or maybe we could choose the worst pinup, and "award" them the Atari.  But, I think that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

Hello,

I would keep the atari if I were you, I still wish I had mine, those were fun games.  I remember "demon attack."  I also liked the haunted mansion those were fun or how about riddle of the sphinx.  Man I like those games.

If you want I can send you something to a to the prize like a DVD or something, and no I will not send "Pron."  No I keep those for myself, Ha ha ha ha...  And yes I spelled it wrong on purpose to keep the fans guessing.

I may be a perv but I do have some tact and know when it is okay to go that way.

Much more later...

I'm thinking that a good prize might be a new anime DVD (or a box set of a series), or maybe a GameBoy, or maybe a cartridge for a Sega or an X-Box.

Other prizes might include a gift certificate to Dick Blick art supplies online (for the artists, amongst us).

In the past, StarBucks gift cards have been a consistent favorite.  Along the same lines, a 5 lb. bag of Kona coffee might be appropriate (best coffee I've ever tasted... very spendy, too).

Well, Jeff, the coffee would be booty enough for me...but I enter art contests for fun. So, regardless of prize potential, I am planning an entry!

Here's a little Independence Day doodle-D-doodle that I did for the BlamBot Nexus, last July.  I hope to complete a much more intricate (and visually interesting) pinup for this year.

...I'm not getting much feedback, on prizes.  Maybe I should award one of those lady-leg lamps, with the high heel and fishnet stocking, as seen on "Christmas Story."

Wow!  That's a very nice pinup.  I can't wait to see if it'll be coloured.  And surely SnowBuni ought to play it safe as she can with that heavy-duty firecracker. Cheesy  Thus, not to get blown up, I doubt if that's guaranteed with ACME, judging the countless *Looney* TNT blunders. Grin

Actually, that's just a quickie pencil sketch from last year; I hope do to something better for this year.  I have a couple of ideas that I'm developing.

I hope there will be other entries.  I guess that depends on my contributors, though.

...actually, I do have a color version of it.  Cartoonist Charles Roe reworked my quickie pencil sketch, and gave it a color bath.
