Lost in the Haunted House Chapter 1 Page 1

SnowBuni has a long history with Haunted Houses and all of the traditional icons of the Halloween season. In her published adventures during the last twenty+ years, she’s fought a variety of monsters, mutants, aliens, ghosts, zombies, mad scientists, and other critters from the dark side.

I’ve never organized a creative anthology for the definitive Haunted House experience, until now. In a recent contest, I invited cartoonist friends to contribute a chapter detailing her experiences in one room of a haunted house… when all of these entries are assembled in some kind of logical order, we see how SnowBuni survives being Lost in the Haunted House.

Here’s the original contest forum: Haunted House STORY Contest 2008.

Classic Reprints

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

I’m reprinting some of the classic from the SnowBuni print comics and early digital posts.  I’ve been fielding some questions regarding the history of SnowBuni, and I thought these would provide a bit of entertainment and enlightenment into the Sylvalagi universe.

Rebooting the Loonatics…

Like many enthusiasts with fond memories of the original Bugs Bunny and crew from Warner Brothers Studios, I was horrified to hear of the planned “reinterpretation” of the classic characters as Loonatics Unleashed back in 2004.

As described, the Loonatics concept seemed unworkable… for one thing, the characters in the original theater shorts had been antagonists, representing absurd caricatures of real situations (such as Elmer’s ill-fated hunting trip in Rabbit Seasoning in which Daffy and Bugs try to convince the hunter to shoot the other). In contrast, the characters in the Loonatics are more-or-less interchangeable teammates, without any interesting conflicts or acknowledgment of their differences.

This parody (actually written before the series was released) highlighted some of the faults that I anticipated for the series (using my Sylvalagi characters SnowBuni and HoniBuni as members of the Loonatics “team”).

Even though the animated Loonatics series has since been cancelled, I’m thinking to publish my little parody anyway. Call it a post-cancellation critique.

I think it’s worth posting. Or not. You let me know.

Unexpected Hiatus Feb – March 2013

Sunday, March 10th, 2013

Sadly, 2013 has been a hard year for me so far… I’ve had a severe case of the flu, and two bouts of pneumonia.  Perhaps I’m getting old.  But all the unexpected downtime has resulted in a severe lag in my schedule for this webcomic… as I write this, I have four different scripts in various states of production, but nothing ready to print.

Hopefully I will be recovered enough shortly to get these projects back on track. Please to stand by.
