Art Commentary by Guest Artist LightFoot:

  • When I think of Halloween, or Halloween artwork or comics in general, I think of costumes. I don't know why, but I quickly picked Star Wars. I thought it would an interesting choice because I could make Snowi the Jedi, and Honi the Sith.
  • My original idea was to put them more in the modern day, and have them acting in the similar way, except it would only be acting. The beginning would be similar, but instead of drawing lightsabers, one would comment that they would fight with the force. They would both drop the lightsabers (I'd put up a little bubble with an arrow saying "cheap plastic toys" or something), and they'd fight... seemingly. They'd struggle like that until 2-3 children in costume would walk past them, complaining about adults, and telling the duo that they don't really have any Jedi-related powers.
  • That seemed too long once I started to consider how many panels would be required. I decided that out of the different choices, putting them both in a SW world would be the most effective. I wouldn't need to explain why they had powers, or show powers not working (like in my original idea), and it seemed like it would take less introduction.
  • What I ended up making seemed pretty obvious from my previous plans. I cut it down to the basic required elements. I put in the purple R2D2 so that Honi wouldn't have to just be standing there in the big splash panel, instead she's half sitting on the lucky droid.
